  1. International Day of Families is celebrated on 15 May to raise awareness of the importance of families and their role in society. The theme of International Day of Families 2023 is “Demographic Trends and Families”. 
  2. 1986 batch IPS Officer Praveen Sood has been appointed as the next Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a period of two years.
  3. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR), which is currently under construction to link the two major cities will be the country’s first high-speed rail line, resulting in a considerable reduction in travel time between the two cities from 6 hours 35 minutes to just 1 hour 58 minutes.
  4. Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav on 15 May, 2023 launched a mobile application, called Meri LiFE (My Life) in New Delhi.

  10. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways honoured the Cochin Port Authority with the Sagar Shreshtha Sammaan for the best turnaround time in non-container category during 2022-23.
  11. Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar chaired the virtually-held sixth session of the Health Ministers meeting of the Shanghai Corporation Organization (SCO) member states.

  15. Indian author Ruskin Bond’s new book titled ‘The Golden Years: The Many Joys of Living a Good Long Life’ will be released on 19 may, 2023 on his 89th birthday.
  16. On 15 May 2023, noted American economist and Nobel laureate, Robert Emerson Lucas Jr. (Robert Lucas), Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago, passed away in Chicago, Illinois, United States of America, at the age of 85.
